How to Join

If you would like to become a cadet in our program please follow the below instructions to sign up.

Step 1.

Find your nearest Civil Air Patrol Cadet or Composite unit (click here). We should hopefully be the closest to you.

Step 2. 

Contact the squadron (click here) and arrange to visit a meeting with your parents. 

Step 3. 

Attend at least three (3) weekly meetings. On your third visit you may request a meeting with the Membership Review Board to clarify goals and expectations prior to submitting a membership application. Bring 2 forms of identification (acceptable documents for proof of identity) to this meeting for review. 

Step 4.

Submit your application in one of the following ways:

Online

Ask your squadron commander if you are eligible to apply online (click here for the online application). Only new cadets can join online. Former members have to submit via mail a paper application.

Fax 

Fill out the CAPF 15 Application for Cadet Membership in Civil Air Patrol (click here for the form).

Fax applications to 334-953-7771.  

Include credit card information to process the application. The required information includes:

  • Type of Card - Visa, MasterCard or Discover 

  • Card Number 

  • Expiration Date 

  • 3 Digit Security Code on the Back of the Card 

  • Name on Card

Mail

Dues can be paid by check made payable to Civil Air Patrol or money orders.   

Mail your completed application and dues payment to:

Expedited Mail

FedEx and UPS are both delivered directly to the National Headquarters building. Priority Mail from the United States Postal Service may be delayed several days while it is routed through the Air Force base mail system.  

When your application is received by Member Services at National Headquarters, it is date stamped and processed in order by the date it arrived. The cadet will receive an automated welcome email when the membership is processed.
